Location, Travel and Accommodation

Cambridge Judge Business School is hosting the 40th annual meeting of the European Finance Association. The conference will take place on the campus of the University of Cambridge.

Cambridge Judge Business School is located in the centre of Cambridge, most widely known as the home of the University of Cambridge, founded in 1209. Cambridge is Cambridge is a compact city and it is easy to walk everywhere. A 45 minute journey to London by train from King’s Cross station, Cambridge is also within reach of the main London airports.

The School is housed in a stunning building, a late 20th century refurbishment and extension of the old Addenbrooke’s Hospital.  The Doctoral Tutorial will be held at Cambridge Judge Business School.  Conference sessions and lunches will be held in university premises around the West Road area.

Cambridge is principally a bicycle city. Some Cambridge streets have been pedestrianised or are closed to traffic for all or part of the day. Although there are car parks in the city, traffic can be congested and navigation may be challenging to visitors.  August is a time when many tourists visit Cambridge.  The weather in England at this time of year can be glorious or damp!

Accommodation

In order to secure accommodation suiting your needs and wishes, you are encouraged to book as soon as possible.

We blocked rooms in several local hotels specifically for EFA2013 participants.  While special rates were arranged, due to the nature of internet reservations, it may be possible to obtain better rates online.

The deadlines for all EFA blocked rooms at Cambridge CITY HOTELDOUBLETREE HILTON and De Vere University Arms have now (all) passed.

No rooms are now held specifically for EFA2013 participants, however room bookings may still be available.  Hotel contacts will do their best to provide the most advantageous rate to EFA delegates where possible and favourable rates may also be available online. A number of ensuite bedrooms in Robinson College is available.  Most of these rooms are single rooms, all have their own bathroom.  These operate on a Bed & Breakfast basis and are less expensive than Cambridge hotels. Booking for these rooms can be done via Robinson College’s online system and details appear under the University of Cambridge College Accommodation tab on this page.

Dates and UK Holiday Monday

The Monday preceding the EFA2013 dates, Monday 26 August, is the last Bank Holiday (national holiday) for people in England. It is known as the August Bank Holiday and is traditionally the end of the Summer break.
